An open consortium of universities, companies
and government research laboratories founded in 1992 with the University
of Pennsylvania as its host institution. The LDC's primary purpose is to
"create, collect and distribute speech and text databases, lexicons, and
other resources for research and development purposes." Non-member individuals
can obtain "guest account" which permits them to access some of the
LDC text databases, including both plain-text and POS-tagged versions of

The
Michigan Corpus of Academic Spoken English (MICASE) |
|
A collection of transcripts of academic
speech events recorded at the University of Michigan. The corpus, which
is under development, currently 152 transcripts (totalling 1,848,364 words)
available. You can browse the corpus according to specified speaker
and speech attributes. You can also search the corpus for words or phrases
in specified contexts and receive concordance results with references to
files, full utterances, and speakers. Full transcription of each speech
event can be viewed online or downloaded. The MICASE project, which started
in 1997, is co-directed by Sarah Briggs and Professor John Swales of the
English Language Institute at the University of Michigan. (Updated: March

Want to use entire
Cyberspace as one huge linguistic database? The Research and Development
Unit for English Studies of the University of Liverpool has recently developed
a prototype version of an Internet search tool called "WebCorp" which will
let you do just that. You simply submit a word or phrase for which instances
of usage are required. WebCorp then visits all the web sites and automatically
extract concordance lines from them. I find it a VERY useful tool, despite
the facts that response is rather slow, concordance span too limited, and

written a very easy-to-use tool for counting and analyzing bigram frequencies
in text. His program package, Bigram Statistics Package (written
in Perl), can be downloaded from the above website (as of Dec. 9, 2000).

セクションでは、現在のところ「語彙測定」「ワードリスト作成」「i4000分析」「コンコーダンス」の４つのプログラム（いずれも清水伸一さん作成）がオンラインで利用できる。このうち「i4000分析」では任意のテキストをフォームにペーストして送信すると、そのテキスト中に含まれる語彙を金田正也氏作成の「i4000リスト」に基いてレベル分けし、その一覧表と見出し語リスト
(lemmatized wordlist) を返してくれる。「コンコーダンス」プログラムでは、同じくテキストデータをフォームにペーストして送信するだけで、指定語をキーワードにしたコンコーダンスラインを得ることができる。送信できるデータ量はおよそ30000バイト程度に制限されているが、任意のテキストを対象にすることができるのでとても便利（私も同じようなものを作ろうと思っていましたが、これがあるなら必要ないので、やめておきます。July

sound files, with features like variable speed playback and "walking" (i.e.
playing a small stretch of the file several times, then advances to a new

collocates (words that co-occur with the keyword which you specify), frequecy
