The World Health Organization is warning of the dangers of noise. It says living and working with extremely loud sounds causes hearing loss, high blood pressure, heart disease and mental health problems. The U.N. organization says more than half the people in Europe live with noisy surroundings. It says the number of people in the United States who face noisy conditions at work has increased more than three times in the past 10 years. The WHO says companies should make changes to protect workers from noise. And it says workers should take steps on their own to protect themselves from noise.
