No. 49. President Bush has visited a Washington school in an effort to direct attention to his new education reform plan. Mr. Bush announced the plan Tuesday. It calls for student testing at underperforming schools. The plan will also allow parents to use federal money to send their children to private schools. A group of congressional education leaders met with Mr. Bush Thursday at the White House to discuss the proposal. Top Democrats say they support only parts of the new plan.
