Rescue teams in El Salvador are losing hope of finding any more survivors of the earthquake Saturday. At least 400 people are known to have died. More than 1,200 are still missing. Rescue officials say the number of dead could increase because many victims are still trapped under mud following a landslide in a town near San Salvador. The mudslides killed hundreds of people and destroyed about 300 homes. The earthquake measured 7.6 on the Richter scale. It was felt along an 1,800-kilometer area between northern Panama and Mexico City.
